2: Cut pork into large chunks and season with salt and pepper, then set aside.

3: Soak mung beans in water for at least 3 hours, then drain and rinse until the water runs clear.

4: Cook mung beans with enough water to coat them and 1 Tbsp salt; boil, reduce heat, and cover for 10 mins. Let sit for another 10-15 mins, then season with black pepper.

6: Prepare to wrap the bánh chưng once all ingredients are ready, using food safe nylon to tie the rice cakes.
